Welcome to the Bunker Questionnaire, a new series in which we ask Bunker Projects residents and exhibiting artists three questions from Marcel Proust’s famous Proust Questionnaire, a survey that purported to reveal a person’s true nature. We hope their answers and the accompanying photos allow you to get to know them and their work a little bit more.
Isabella Schubert-Jones is a Pittsburgh-born and based artist who transforms discarded materials into imaginative, immersive art. She finds inspiration in forgotten objects often scavenged from roadsides or dumpsters, like hubcaps and rusty bolts. Her close connection with animals grounds and enriches her creative process, and her sculptures often blur the line between the natural and the supernatural, creating otherworldly creatures and landscapes that invite viewers into a world uniquely her own.
Describe yourself in three words.
“Animated, scrappy and adaptable.”
Who are your favorite artists/the ones who’ve influenced you most?
“Currently: Leonora Carrington and Scooby-Doo.”
What is your idea of happiness?
“A non-crowded thrift store.”
