Welcome to Bunker Field Notes, a series in which we collect first person accounts of adventures, studies, and treasured memories from our artists in residence. These tales capture the slow, spontaneous, synergistic happenings that make an artist residency so special – we are chronicling them to savor this magic.

Ree Artemisa

Ree Artemisa is a self taught artist who paints spells and make alternative comics. Their work explores themes of Mexican, Chicana and Indigenous heritage, working-class queer culture, nature and cultural reconnection. Ree was a Bunker resident in Fall 2025 and will return as an exhibitor in 2027. We hope you enjoy their comic recounting their daily adventures both big and small at Bunker!
